Alf Ross and The theory of prediction

The theory of prediction (prognosis theory) must be considered as the core of the philosophy of law in the legal realism of Alf Ross. It is concerned with the development of a scientific and objectivist foundation of legal science. With this theory Ross is challenging classical and modern conceptions of natural law in the legal philosophies of Aristotle and Kant, but also the conceptions of legal positivism in the 20th century. Ross is inspired by the social technological and utility oriented legal positivism in the philosophy of Bentham, but he is also critical towards the idea of utility as a part of subjective legal policy. Moreover, the legal positivism of Austin is criticized for focusing too much on law as outer force and for not conceiving the function of law in society. According to Ross valid law is an expression of factual law in society and not as a sanction of a legal system of norms as we find it by Hans Kelsen.

The Pure Theory of Law

The idea of a Pure Theory of Law was propounded by the formidable Austrian jurist and philosopher Hans Kelsen (1881–1973).  Kelsen began his long career as a legal theorist at the beginning of the 20th century. The traditional legal philosophies at the time, were, Kelsen claimed, hopelessly contaminated with political ideology and moralizing on the one hand, or with attempts to reduce the law to natural or social sciences, on the other hand. He found both of these reductionist endeavors seriously flawed. Instead, Kelsen suggested a ‘pure’ theory of law which would avoid reductionism of any kind. The jurisprudence Kelsen propounded “characterizes itself as a ‘pure’ theory of law because it aims at cognition focused on the law alone” and this purity serves as its “basic methodological principle”

"NOWADAYS, ROTE LEARNING IS TAKING PLACE AT SCHOOLS"

When we speak about rote learning we associate it  to a routine or repetition carried out

mechanically or unthinkingly.

I think that  it is necessary introduce some urgent changes in the  curriculum to help student

Today's public educators look down on rote learning and consider it akin to a form of child

abuse.

Today this form of learning is considered to be “out of style, “ghastly boring” and even

“mindless.”

I think that in facts  rote memorization isn´t only the easiest way to learn something; it often is the

only way to learn something.

From my point of view rote learning is a consistently effective teaching method.

Nowaday  teachers are looking for "critical thinking"  . In this target real learning is over rote

learning

MY OPINION ON AUSUBEL´S THEORY

Name David Paul Ausubel
Born     October 25, 1918
Died     July 9, 2008
Nationality     United States
Fields     Psychology, Educational Psychology
Known for     Advance Organizers
Influences     Jean Piaget

Ausubel´s  recognized other different  forms of learning, his work focused on verbal learning.

He believed the external world acquires meaning only as it is converted into the content of

consciousness by the learner.

Ausubel contributed much to the theoretical body of cognitive learning theory

He creates the advanced organizer as a way to help students link their ideas with new material

or concepts.

The advance organizer is a tool to help students `integrate new information with their existing

knowledge, leading to "meaningful learning" as opposed to rote memorization.

I think he realised an importan contribution to the science

Nowadays we incorporate this tool to learn a lot of different things

My opinion on social networking

EXPRESS AGREEMENT OR DISAGREEMENT AND YOUR OPINION ON THIS:

B) As for physical risk, he says, "The potential for horror is enormous. If  a criminal can easily find out where you are, what stores you frequent, what your daily habits are, who your friends are, and even what your personal food, entertainment, and beverage preferences are, you can be targeted with a level of ease never before possible. Physical violene is possible"

That s exactly what I think
I think specially teenagers are so vulnerable to social networking
Teenagers are so innocent and give much personal information like real name, address, places that regular frequent. All this information could be used to find out a person easily
We have to take some good care and protect our identity

My opinion on social networking

EXPRESS AGREEMENT OR DISAGREEMENT AND YOUR OPINION ON THIS:

A) David Gewirtz: " I worry that there is a deep and dangerous dark side to social networks and I worry about the potential victims. Cybercrimes are very common"

I totally agree with David Gewirtz s opinion
I think people underestimate the real potential of social networks
Nowadays, people use social networks specially facebook and twitter without caution.
In my viewpoint, it is necessary to inform people about the risks of social networking
People will use the technology with responsability
Maybe not giving your real identification could help you avoid some problems!

My opinion on the legality of marihuana

"DECRIMINALIZING MARIHUANA WILL ONLY LEAD TO MORE PEOPLE        BECOMING ADDICTED TO DRUGS"

There was an initiative on last April to allow the tree plantation, cultivation and harvesting as well as the industrialization and trade of up to 8 cannabis plants per household in Uruguay

Possession of less than 25 grams of marijuana was already decriminalized in Uruguay, but the acto of growing, transporting or sharing it remainded illegal

I think that there is a confrontation between  reality and legal regulation.
You can "consumir" but you can t obtain the product in a legal way, really there is a proof contradiction, isn t it?

This is a photograph of two great people: Lady Di and Mother Teresa
I found it in internet.
It was taken by a professional photographer.
In the foreground, the picture shows  two people: Mother Teresa and Diana.
In the background there are a lot of people.
The viewer has the impression that the people in the picture are alive.
It gives the impression of mutual admiration
The picture inspires the viewer to think about charity and humility.

Two Iconic People: Lady Di and Mother Teresa

The year 1997 was a traumatic year for so many people around the world.
Two iconic people, Diana,Princess of Wales and Mother Teresa of Calcuta died within days of each other
It is hard to imagine how two women could be more different: coming from opposite sides of the world their lives were really worlds apart
One was a young mother, beautiful, tall and protestant; the other elderly, diminutive and catholic
Yet suddenly, in 1997, their similarities seemed more obvious than their differences
